This is the national mountain bike series, where the amateurs and pros race.
It is always a tough technical course; there is lots of climbing and some very tough
downhills.

This
course kicked my a**! In prior years I've handled it very well, but this year it was not
to be.
I wanted to get a jump on everyone to avoid the slow up on the first downhill and the
singtrack. I was the third to reach to top of the first climb, but then I endo'd on the descent.
I got back into it and had a good first lap, but on the second lap things didn't feel right.
I had little energy, and felt like the course was beating me up. I must have looked pretty
punished on the third lap when Anne yelled "your almost done". You know you are having a bad
race when you hear that.
By the end of the third
lap, I felt realy tired and sore and was about 10 minutes slower than the first lap.
Overall, this was a disappointment for me, as this was a race I was planning to peak for
and I'd done well here before and handled the course well.
