The local race! The course was very muddy and the organizers had to create
several re-routes in response to several days of non-stop rain. A huge turnout.

All experts started together, and I got started very well, probably in the top twenty.
It was getting real muddy. Mud everywhere. The course rocked with one tough climb
and lots of good muddy single track. It was technical, but the kind of fun course that I can ride.
I was racing really well until I got a flat on the beginning of the third lap. I changed
it quickly and put in the CO2, only to hear the buzz-killing sound of escaping air.
Turns out my spare tube was a dud. One nice guy threw me a tube and another CO2 cartridge,
but his inflator didn't work. I waited some more, and another kind soul gave me another CO2.
Twenty minutes later I was back in, but I had watched so many people pass me, several who
placed pretty well. I kept going and passed Barry who had passed me while I was waiting.
Hopefully next year I'll have better luck.
